Solving Problems

With the Millennium Development Goals the purpose is to have solved these issues by 2015. Depending on the country and the shape they are in only so many places have been able to reach their goals. The goal is be able to at a least have everyone in Colombia to have $10, with a population of 46,927,125 people there will be many of ways to solve these problems.

Ending Poverty & Hunger

Hunger is one of the one of the biggest problems in Colombia. More than half the people in Colombia suffer from some type of degree of hunger. With kids under the age of 5 being the ones that suffer from malnutrition (12/100). They way that the money will be distributed in Colombia will be ways to go for food.  The amount of money that will be going towards the hunger in Colombia is $185,038,750. With this money the organization Stop Hunger Now will also be involved in trying to help those in Colombia have a decent meal every night.

Universal Education

With Colombia reaching its first main goal of everyone receiving a primary education the next step will be for people to be able to receive a secondary education. In order for it to be that students can have that second education is to be able to afford it as well as to be able to have the supplies. With this the cost that goes to education will be $8,500,000. This will also be able to cover the kids that want to go to school but can’t.

Gender Equality

In Colombia women have still yet to receive the equality that need. Women receive physical as well as sexual abuse and domestic violence is common between a spouse and family members. Also domestic violence is seemed to be the greatest problem that women face. The plan is to help women get the security they need in order to feel safe in Colombia. One thing that will be done is give money to the organizations that will want to help women feel safe in their own surroundings as well as fund money to get women who were already beat and hurt before so that it won’t happen again. For this problem there will be $220,622,083.

Child Health

With all the war that has been taken place in Colombia there are a lot of poverty towns. There are also a lot of kids on the who are known as street kids and the only way for them to survive is to steal, beg, and work. The kids only have themselves to depend on and no family in sight. These kids are working as drug runners and some of them even take the drugs themselves in order suffice the hunger, misery and being cold. The plan is to have a shelter built throughout Colombia that will provide food, shelter, healthcare, and a fresh start for these kids. In order to do this money will be involved. The amount of money that will be $52,805,209. This money will go towards getting these kids the health they need just to survive an everyday life.

Combating HIV/Aids

In 2011 there was 83,467 cases of people being infected and the ones that were mostly infected were gay men and female sex workers. In the first 9 months of 2011 in Bogota, Colombia there were 114,000 case with 84% being men and 16% women. Majority of those that are infected are between the ages of 15-44. With HIV/Aids being such a big epidemic in Colombia the best thing that will be done is to have clinics put all around Colombia with ways to stay safe, and information. In order to do this $1,550,000 will go towards this and making buildings.

Environmental Sustainability

The main problem that Colombia faces with the environment is preserving wildlife, soil erosion, and deforestation. The only thing that could be thought of doing is to give some money to help preserve the wildlife that is being endangered. In order to deal with the environmental problems we will have the money that will keep these problems under control. $190,000 will be donated to helping the environment.

Maternal Health

Since only .13% of 100,000 women die during giving birth that is a very low rate. We want to keep this rate this low so we will only be spending $465,208 towards this.

Global Partnership

The Global Partnership has investors from Seattle, Washington, and Managua Nicaragua. They announced that they were going to have loans in Colombia. With someone already having loans the plan is to have the loans paid off and to continue to donate money to Colombia. The amount of money that will go to the partnership is $100,000
